Coaching and Real Estate Meet: First Time Home Buyers in a Seller’s Market
Changing my career to becoming a Real Estate Agent while I am getting near to “retirement age” was not an easy decision. I had the calling many years ago, but kept putting it off. And in the meantime, I was buying and selling my own homes as well as building a home on raw land, learning a lot along the way. I have heard that Real Estate is in my blood, (My Grandfather was a Real Estate Developer, My Dad a Commercial Lender) but I think it was in my bones too! I kept moving forward. Always checking the market to see what was selling, how the prices were changing. Always seeing Real Estate as a valuable investment. When I left my career as a Speech Language Pathologist I transitioned into being a Coach. My experience had taught me that communication skills are tied to our development and early experiences as well as our mindset. Coaching opened my mindset into the world of possibility. It literally opened my mind and gave me the tools to support others in doing the same.
When I met my Clients they had worked with several agents and had made several offers. I talked with them about their goals and what they wanted to do, where they wanted to go and what they wanted for a home. I gave them activities to gain clarity for what they wanted and didn’t want. There was a lot of unknown as this was the first time they were purchasing a home. Here is what they said:
Buying a home is a big decision and choosing the best home is a huge investment. It’s a process of aligning values with finances and daily life!
Listening and observing my clients I was able to attune to their desires and emotions so we could be working from a place of confidence, calm and clarity.
The emotions run like a roller coaster when you find the home you desire! You are both excited and scared, I see myself living here and what if my offer isn’t accepted? Once the offer is accepted the challenge is making sure it is all it is described to be and doing due diligence to check all the boxes, land, permits, inspections, etc… there is a lot to do and the pressure is on in a seller’s market.
The ultimate goal is to complete the purchase and feel confident that you made the best decision. Of course that requires a commitment to getting there and having the experience of owning the home! The closer you get to the end, the more you feel tested emotionally! Can you actually have this dream?
Yes you can! By focusing on the elements you have control over and not getting to involved in the unknown that you can’t. Focus and staying centered! 🌻
Together we did it! We stayed centered, responded instead of reacted, took time to take the emotion out of the decisions and focus on the prize at the end. It’s a journey and I am honored that they chose me to be their guide!
I am grateful for this opportunity to guide my clients through this process and ultimately achieve their goal! I drew on all of my previous experiences, and my wisdom as well as my coaching skills to guide my clients through this process. I learned a lot and am grateful for the support I received from my colleagues at Portside Real Estate Group. Life is a journey, not a destination… I can’t wait to see what they have done with this property! Hard things take time and are worth it!
