Gratitude for Growth Opportunities

As we approach this season with a focus on Gratitude, I feel compelled to focus on the Gratitude I feel for the growth opportunities that have been presented in my life and the people that have supported me through them.

Times when I was challenged and had a lot of emotion and resistance.

These are the times when I grew the most. As I look back I gain strength from these times.

I realize I made it through them, as long as they took, as hard and scary as they were. I am still here.

These times have strengthened me so that I can now challenge myself as there is always more growth available if I choose it.

Here are some things I grew through:

Breaking my arm in 1st grade and learning to write with the opposite hand.

Experiencing challenges in my home as a young child, and sorting through them as an adult.

Going through a significant health challenge, and coming through with more faith in the universe and my body.

Exploring different places without a place to live and finding them just when I needed them.

Sharing past buried truths with loved ones and having them listen and strengthen our relationship.

Working in places where I was not a part of the culture and being accepted and welcomed.

And leaving work situations where there was not a healthy culture and finding freedom.

Mostly doing things I have never done before and feeling the discomfort and joy that go along with the growth.

I couldn’t have done any of these things without the personal connections that surrounded me at the time. I am grateful for each persons presence and support. Each individual helped me build the courage I need to continue along this journey of growth and living a full life.
